Wedding Wednesday (Part 3)
My last Wedding Wednesday! Picking up where we left off. If you are just joining us, at this point Josh and I are officially Mr. and Mrs. Ayers and headed to our reception! When we arrived at the Inn I had to run and change dresses for our first dance. We took dance lessons downtown Chattanooga a few months leading up to the wedding, and it is one of my most favorite things we have ever done together. I love to dance and performed most of my life growing up, so I knew I wanted our first dance to be spectacular. Josh was a little out of his comfort zone, but quickly caught on to everything. We work well together in just about any circumstance and so being dance partners was a breeze. When the D.J. announced us and we walked in, we headed straight to the front to perform our first dance to Ray Lamontagne ‘Best Thing’. It was perfect. At least in my mind.
From there, the same kind of brain fog/happiness high happened to me. I was so in the moment enjoying our guests and Josh that specific memories fail me. I know everyone was laughing and having a good time. My Granny danced (huge shocker), my Mom showed me up on the dance floor, the kiddos danced the night away, and everyone seemed to be having a ball. I know we were having the time of our life, and that’s what matters.
We went around to every table to see each guest, but I wish there had been more time to spend time with everyone. The most overwhelming feeling is having every single person you love underneath one roof. I’ll never get over it. I cried on the flight to our honeymoon because I kept telling Josh I wanted to do it again. It was the most joyous few hours of my entire life.
My sisters gave the sweetest speeches and made me cry. My sisters and I are so close, and having them there right by my side all day long gave me a sense of comfort. Josh’s sister gave her thoughtful speech, and then it was time for the “Daddy/Daughter” dance. This was almost an ordeal, because my Dad does not dance. My parents danced together for the first time ever at my wedding!!!! HUGE DEAL. So, I knew a Daddy/Daughter dance would just be awkward and uncomfortable for him, which is why we played/sang together for our “dance”. My Dad was in a rock band and has always played music. I’m the singer of the family, so it just made sense. We did ‘Stand By Me’ and it was one of the sweetest moments ever. I’ll never forget it.
At some point people started telling me that it was really snowing outside. Perfect, right? Well, not in Wise County because roads get bad and snow piles up fast. We ended everything a little sooner than planned because of this.We used eco-friendly “snow” confetti for our exit. Little did we know, there would be actual snow for the exit and pictures! It was beyond perfect!
Some of my favorite pictures are the ones of Josh and I exiting and dancing around the snowy streets of Wise. We stayed and hung out at the Inn with some of our friends, and the rest of the details of the night are for Josh and I only.
Our wedding was better than any pinterest board or romance movie I’ve ever seen. It was ours. I let the day happen and tried not to control every single detail. I was there for my sweet Josh and to celebrate with all of our loved ones. Magical doesn’t even begin to describe 12.9.17. I am forever grateful.
xoxo,
Mrs. Ayers

“…but I wish there had been more time to spend time with everyone. The most overwhelming feeling is having every single person you love underneath one roof.”
This is exactly how I felt too! The most amazing part of a wedding is the absolute force of love that encompasses it, between the couple, but also with every guest! I’ve enjoyed this series thoroughly, Dee!

Yes! I was so sad once it was over. I kept thinking, “when in my life will I ever have all these people together under one roof again?” It was so emotional for me. Thanks Stephanie. Thank you for reading!
